There are only 3 founding sires that almost all Thoroughbreds can trace back to:the Darley Arabian,the Byerly Turk, and the Godolphin.
Thoroughbreds range in height, and are measured in  hands(a hand being four inches).Some are as small as 15 hands while others are over 17 hands.
Thoroughbreds can travel medium distances at fast paces, requiring a balance between speed and endurance.



Horse Bleeding
The horse which left excellent results can turn into a breeding horse.  Stud fees is so expensive. For example, stud fees of Sunday silence known as grate breeding horse in Japan was 30million Yen at once.

The physical feature
Horses grow up almost by 3 years old.In the time, the weight become 400-500kg.
It can appear in a race in the summer of 2 years old. And generally, retire in 5-7 years old.


Competitive ability
Competitive ability between male horses and mare horses is almost same different from human,and mare horses are given 2kg handicap for male horses in Japan races.


About coat color
There are over 100 kinds of coat color(classified finely). As the main coat colors - Bay(brown/50%), Dark Bay(darker than "Bay"/14%), Dark(darker than "Dark Bay"/2-3%), Black(1% or less), Chestnut(25%), Dark Chestnut(1% or less), Grey(7%), White(very rare/20 examples are. )

These British horse racing style was introduced into Japan in the latter half of the 19c.Then, in 1936, "Japan horse racing association" (now JRA)set up. In those days, There are horse racing track in Sapporo,Hakodate,Fukushima, Niigata,Nakayama,Tokyo,Yokohama,Kyoto,Hanshin,Kokura,Miyazaki.
But, because of World war II, Japanese horse racing was declined. After war ends and for a while,in 1954, "JRA" (Japan Racing Association)set up.So it continues up to now.
