 "Stay Gold" is father of "Orfevre".     "Stay Gold " could not win big race easily, but as stallion, he lefts very good results.

My Favorite Horse

My favorite horse is "Buena Vista". Buena Vista is mare horse. She always leaves the result of a higher rank even in what kind of  race. I liked such her earnestness.

Buena Vista earned about 1,500 million yen until he retires from the world of competition .

His younger sister"Joie de Vivre" is strongest horse in 3years old mare horses.
I would like to expect activity of her future.

Introduce strong horse in history and now

Although there were many strong horses in the history, I would like to introduce a strong horses which has familiarity to everybody comparatively.
The name of the horse is "Deep Impact".

Deep Impact dealt with at the comparatively cheap price of 70 million yen.
And this horse owner was shocked by brightness by the eye of this horse and he wanted the horse to become a horse which gives a shock strong against many people. So he attached this name to the horse.
After coming out, the horse repeated successive victories.
Deep Impact earned about 1,500 million yen until he retires from the world of competition .

The present strongest horse is "Orfevre" .
This horse differs from Deep Impact,  Orfevre had so rude temperament when he came out. But it has improved gradually.  Experiencing a race, he had been stabilized mentally. As the result, there are no horses can win against him.

Introduce big races in a year in Japan

Race's class is classified into 8 pieces based on the acquisition prize.   From a lower class, new horses, unwon, under 5million yen, under 10 million yen, under 16 million yen, open, GIII, GII, GI.

This time, I will introduce some famous big races in GI races.
"Nippon Derby" and "Arima Kinen" is known  as famous big races in Japan.
Nippon Derby 's prize is 150 million yen when a horse win the first place, and   Arima Kinen's prize is 200million yen.

On the day of the races, over 100,000 people comes to watch a race to the race course.

Deduction rate of horse racing in Japan is 18%-26.2%. on the other hand, the rate of other gambling is very high.
For example, the rate of  "Lottery" is 55%, the rate of  "toto" is 50%.
Thus,comparing with other gambling, horse racing is healthy gambling for our customers.

About odds and dividend(配当)
Dividend is decided by parimutuel system.

You purchase the betting ticket in a sales store(WINS or Race course or on internet). At this time, the dividend is unknown.  And JRA pools all the amount of purchase. Then, a race is performed and the number and people who success in elections decide.
The difference which pulled costs(based on deduction rate), such as operational expenses, is distributed by a successful candidate.

Place(複勝): Select one horse to win, finish second or third. If there are five to seven numbers in a race, select one horse to finish first or second.

exacta(馬単): Select two horses to finish first and second in correct order.

Bracket Quinella(枠連): Select two brackets to finish first and second in any order.

Quinella(馬連): Select two horses to finish first and second in any order.


trio(三連複):Select three horses to finish first,second and third in any order.

JRA have 10 horse race course.(Tokyo, Nakayama, Kyoto, Hanshin, Hakodate, Sapporo, Niigata, Fukushima, Kokura, Chuukyou)
Big races are held in main 4 race course(Tokyo, Kyoto, Hanshin, Nakayama).

Every race course is about 2000m of round. And every race course have characteristic.
Tokyo, Hanshin, Kyoto, Niigata race course have long distance home Straight(over 450m).
Nakayama and local race course(Hakodate, Sapporo, Kokura...) have very tight corner.

About Jockey

Jockeys are normally self employed,nominated by horse trainers to ride their horses in races for a fee which is paid regardless of the prize money the horse earns for a race.

If you participate in the race of a horse race in Japan, and controls a racehorse, you need a "Jockey License". Generally, license is not given unless you graduate from 'jockey school'.　Since there is defined weight, jockey have to carry out severe weight restrictions. Jockey's weight is about about 50 kg.

About prize money

 If jockey participate in the race of a horse race, they get money as riding allowance, in addition, get 5% of the amount of a prize of the race.

 The more it becomes the race of  big prize money, the more a lot of money can be got. For example, in "Japan Cup" which is highest prize money(the 1st place: 250 million yen) race in Japan,  if a jockey get the first place at the race, he gets 12.5 million yen as prize money. This easily exceeds a salaried worker's annual income.

In japan,  Jocley's Average annual salary is about 50 million yen.

Comparing to other sports, since the required element of jockey's physical capability is low, even if a jockey older, he is continued for a long time as jockey.(there are jockeys over 50 years old.)
